(Review) Radiant, Blemish-free Skin with Hada Labo's NEW Gokujyun Blemish & Oil Control Hydrating Series

If you have been following my recent posts or IG, you may know that I have been taking a TCM prescription for a month plus for body regulation purpose. It has been extra 'heaty' on the inside thus breaking out is unavoidable!

In my Althea Bare Essentials review you will know that I broke out at Day 10 of usage due to my 'heatiness' of the TCM prescription. In short, Althea Bare Essentials are nice to use if I had a more normal skin and not breaking out. It is good to note that I will shift back to the Althea Bare Essentials series when everything has dry down & also to increase my healing and scar lightening process. ^^

Anyhow, there are various factors and stressors that may cause one to breakout. So it is important for you to trial and error and find the right product for your skin!

According to Skincarisma:
It is most suitable for dry skin user who has acne situation.
(+++) Free from fragrance, colorant, mineral oil, sulfate and paraben.
(---) Contains alcohol, potentially block pores (because of Lauric Acid, Myristic Acid, & Palmitic Acid), may irritate sensitive skin due to the strong essential oil used (of Rosemary Leaf Oil).

Claimed Function:
Hatomugi, Houttuynia Cordata, Chamomile Flower Extracts and other plant extracts fight blemishes, soothe skin irritation and restore oil-water balance of skin. Hyaluronic Acid lock, store and replenish moisture for significantly soft, smooth and supple skin. Dense and ultra fine foam that gently washes away impurities, dirt and oil without drying the skin. Skin pH balanced. Low irritation. Overall, it conditions, soothes and hydrates skin and achieve smooth, moist and radiant skin.

How-to:
Use twice a day. Moisten skin with water. Pump a generous amount of foam onto palm. Gently massage onto face, using gentle circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with water.

Packaging:
It comes in a sturdy convenient pump bottle. Also has a choker which is awesome.

Texture:
Dense & ultra fine foam that gently washes away impurities, dirt and oil without drying the skin.

Scent:
A strong herbal scent.

Thoughts:
I love how pumps are convenient in dispensing the product but would be great if it comes with a cover at the pump for total protection. I like that I do not need to lather the product first before applying to my face. I don't really prefer the strong herbal scent (may be overwhelming for some IMO). It is accompanied with the menthol cooling feel but once rinsed off, there is no cooling feeling! Face feels clean without any tight/dry feeling after rinsing off with water. After using for 1 week, I do not see much help with my acne. But I continued with another week plus my acne gel from another brand, my acne have all dried down and I will be using this alternately with my other cleanser. I will only use this cleanser when I have acne ^^

Re-purchase:
Will see how. XD

Rating:
3.5/5
(Cleansing was good but the Skincarisma rating  + the strong scent reduce the points XD)

#2: Hada Labo Blemish & Oil Control Hydrating Lotion

Brand: Hada Labo
Item: Blemish & Oil Control Hydrating Lotion
Content: 170ml
Cost: RM64.90

Ingredients:
Water, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Squalene, Triethylhexanoin, Methylparaben, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Tranexamic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Menthol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Camphor, Coix Lacryma-Jobi Ma-Yuen Seed Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract.

According to Skincarisma:
(+++) Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract soothes skin sensitivity & increases moisture content, Butylene Glycol is a powerful moisturizing agent
(---) Contains alcohol

How-to:
After Step #1, apply a sufficient amount on palms and gently pat onto skin until thoroughly absorbed. Use twice daily.

Packaging:
Their signature toner bottle.

Texture:
Watery & lightweight texture that takes awhile to be absorbed into the skin.

Scent:
It has quite a strong alcohol scent :/

Thoughts:
I personally use it as a point treatment for erupting or about to erupt pimples with a soaking cotton pad. Then only I spread a dime sized amount on my palm and pat all over my face for absorption. This helps to calm my small pimple / bumps. I also heard from famous beauty guru from Taiwan, Liu Yen, say that its ok to pour it into a spritzing bottle & spray it to better control my sebum secretion while also moisturizing my skin whenever I need it. I really wanna love you like other toners in the Hada Labo series but I just cannot stand your alcohol scent and its so far not the fastest when it comes to "drying" up my pimples. Acne/pimples takes about 3-4 days or more to really dry up so its a bit long for the impatient me. It however does not dry out my skin throughout my usage so I will only use this when fresh acne come visits me.

Re-purchase:
Not really coz of the strong alcohol scent.

Rating:
2.8/5

Overall Thoughts:
Its a routine I will only use when my pimple/acne visit me. It has a good soothing effect which I like as you can see in my after 1 wash comparison pic. I have been incorporating these two items with my skincare routine for the past near 2 weeks. Current skincare routine are my oldies. The only downside is that the alcohol scent and content puts me off.

Have you tried it? What's your thought? :)

From the above comparison (just after 1 wash; around week 2 of usage!), there is not much a difference but is it just me or what coz I personally think that my redness is much soothed after just 1 wash.

Hope this post is helpful to you. FYI, I did not get a usual pic of my before-after (2-week comparison pic) as I didn't think it'll work for me, but it did ^^
You may check out the Hada Labo products at ALL leading pharmacies nationwide.

Just remember, what works for me may not work for you. What works for you may not work for me. Just have fun trying out products and please do look at the ingredients to show more love for your skin!

Bee
